The latest version of Android Operating System — Android 7.0–7.1.1 Nougat has come up with the characteristic features that has eventually improved the overall user experience and productivity. This seventh major version was released in 2016 and it has brought various changes to OS.
The development platform of Nougat includes the ability to display multiple applications on a screen at one time in a split screen view. The updated version provides a convenient mode for the Android developers who can significantly opt the latest features to create innovative mobile applications.
The characteristic features of the latest Android Version “Nougat” are as below:
- Split Screen: The most important feature of Android Nougat is the Split Screen Mode, which has permitted the users to perform multiple functions by running two applications on a single screen. The simultaneous access to apps at one time enables the users to get control on the two portals. For example: you can browse the web page to search or read information while accessing Gmail or watching videos on YouTube. Along with this, you also drag the images or text from one application and drop in into another app.
- 3 Dimensional Touch Feature: Earlier, this advanced feature was available on Pixel phones. But, Nougat version has made it accessible on all smartphones having Android OS. It has allowed the users to have a quick access to particular features of the apps like users can tap and hold on one app icon, until the next sub menu is displayed, containing certain app quick options on a pop up.
- Notification Control: The latest Android version has carried the advanced notification control system which shows options to select the user’s preference for the applications like Block All Notifications, Show Notification Silently, Don’t Silent or Block. This feature is quite useful for text sending apps like whatsapp, or other chatting apps which often fills up the entire menu with individual messages. The direct answering attribute of Nougat version allows the user to reply the incoming texts within the notification area.
- Emoji’s: Android 7.0–7.1.1 Nougat version provides a set of total 72 new emoji’s including animated GIF Images and interesting expressions. The designs have been particularly improved and appeared as more human looking than the earlier ones.
- Doze on The Go: “Doze on The Go” characteristic of Android Nougat plays an important role to save battery life by shutting the back side functions when the device remains on a sleep mode or not being used.
- Data Saver: The Date Saving Mode available in Android Nougat is simply commendable. Users just have to click on data saving mode and configure the android apps that are permitted to access data in the background.
